To Our beloved Nation and the peoples of the world,
Today is a special day. For it is witness to the reemergence of the Ellicott Observer. It is also testament to the very spirit of Hanover itself.
The history of news sources among our community of nations is littered with the remnants of the lost, forgotten and abandoned. Ongoing concerns are especially difficult to sustain in an environment which thrives on change and is nothing short of chaos at all times.
In the case of Hanover We have personally witnessed no fewer than three attempts at creating and sustaining a news outlet. And here We are again at a sort of ribbon cutting ceremony to open the doors of the latest publication to hold the name Ellicott Observer. As We witness the birth of this second iteration of the Ellicott Observer We want to express Our thanks to those who, even upon seeing the odds stacked as they are, take up the endeavor once again. It is this spirit of tenacity which makes anything worthwhile possible.
Not only do We commend those who have put their hands to the plow but We also will support them with Our own efforts.
Of all the nations We have had the privilege of being involved with Hanover is special. Of course, one would expect the Monarch to say as much, but, without detracting from any other nation, Hanover does contain its own unique properties which set her apart.
Hanover has survived the succession of Kings twice now, and God willing, when the time comes, will do so again. That is a rare quality in a young nation. Young nations are often dependant on the power of their leaders to hold them together and as soon as that keystone is removed the rest comes down. But that alone does not make Hanover unique.
Hanover has survived for nearly three years now. In that time a plethora of other nations have sprouted and withered away again. That puts Hanover into a very exceptional category. Of course, other nations have done the same and so that alone does not make Hanover unique.
Hanover has never ventured into the realm of fantasy. The citizens are real, the nation is real and the Throne is real. That is a exceptional find indeed among the community of landless nations with very small populations. But, this too is not enough to make Hanover unique.
These things together make Hanover unique.
All of these things reflect something which is often felt but seldom named, the spirit of Hanoverians. Hanoverians have the spirit of tenacity and the willingness to try again and again. Hanoverians are an adventurous lot. They embrace new citizens, new technologies and new ideas. Not with reckless abandon of the traditions of the past, but with an eye on integration. Hanoverians are always seeking a better way to accomplish the goals of tomorrow while retaining the fruits of the past. And, lest it somehow be swept under the rug, let Us not forget that Hanoverians are also a joyous group taking pleasure in all the things which make Hanover.
And here We are again, witnessing just such a spirit in action! What a proud time to be Hanoverian! To witness the spirit of Hanover in action is a wonderful thing. To be part of it is an honour.
It is this honour that We get to fulfill by making this first post in the new Ellicott Observer. We expect that the future will see things great and small, and that the Observer will report them to the world. Along with each report will shine that Hanoverian spirit which has laid the foundation upon which this publication now rests.
Having seeing the Hanoverian spirit in action once again We take leave of you now with one simple exhortation:
Be true to the spirit of Hanover.
